about 1 year agoIt’s July so it’s Plastic Free July. This is a global initiative that aims to gather as many people as possible in order to be part of the solution to plastic pollution. Everything so we can have cleaner air, water, forests, etc. We want to spread the news and be part of it because we are human beings and also because this is our creed, to take care of/save the planet. Here you can also check out our previous campaigns and find new ways to heal the planet. Now we want to show you how easy it can be to use less plastic.
Learn with us how to reduce the plastic in our lives.
Even if we’re talking about the coffee cups, sanitary objects, dental care items or bathroom objects choose the reusables products. They are easy to find nowadays and they might also come with great promotions or a discount.
This is a simple one. Everytime you want to buy coffee just bring your own mug/coffee cup/bottle. This can also be fun because there are so many options and you can customize your container.
Confetti and balloons are beautiful and they remind us of childhood, but let’s party plastic free. Choose the reusable decorations or make your own. You can make dried leaves confetti or old fabric wreaths.
Make a shopping list. Think of what you really need. And never go shopping while being hungry. These are only a few tips in order to avoid waste.
Be part of the solution by spreading the information. Planning a plastic free workshop, talk, or event may seem overwhelming, but it really doesn’t have to be. Starting small is a great way to introduce the idea to the community and learn what works before you hit the ground running. You can even host an online event.
Choose to buy fruits and vegetables without plastic wrapping. You can use fabric bags in order to transport and store them. Besides reducing waste, this action will have a huge impact on our planet: we will reduce the pressure on recycling systems, we can help save plastic bags from entering our oceans and landfill where they break up into tiny micro plastics and remain forever etc.
How? Bin Audit is the key. Firstly, pick a day not long after your bins have just been emptied. Then, separate your garbage according to the separation system in your home, school or workplace. Keep the record of the waste you find (by weight or maybe volume) and set your goals.
Here is what you can use instead of plastic liners:
If you do use a “naked bin”, you can ward against extra smells by:
Even if July will be over, Plastic Free July should be everyday. Nowadays, the amount of plastic used in almost everything is concerning. Globally to date, there is about 8.3 billion tons of plastic in the world. Around 6.3 billion tons of that is trash. Also, we are consuming about 5 grams of plastic every week, which is the equivalent of a credit card, according to a World Wildlife Fund analysis.
Choose plastic free alternatives, reusable products or buy less. There are many ways of avoiding plastic. Here you can find some of them: https://www.plasticfreejuly.org/get-involved/what-you-can-do/.
In an era where climate change and environmental sustainability are at the forefront of global concerns, the need for energy-efficient buildings has become more pressing. Buildings are responsible for a significant portion of global energy consumption and carbon emissions, making them a key focus for energy conservation efforts. To enter the era of smart buildings, where cutting-edge technologies, sensors, and artificial intelligence (AI) are transforming the way we think about energy efficiency, here are some of our thoughts.
